2025 MRS Fall Meeting & Exhibit | I am a PhD student in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Northeastern University, advised by Professor Peter Schindler. My research focuses on computational materials science, using machine learning interatomic potentials (MLIPs) to predict surface and cleavage energies at scales far beyond what traditional density functional theory (DFT) allows. This work aims to accelerate the discovery of materials for catalysis, energy storage, and semiconductor applications by making high-throughput surface stability screening computationally feasible. At the 2025 MRS Fall Meeting & Exhibit, I presented a poster titled “Machine Learning Interatomic Potentials for Rapid Screening of Stable Materials Surfaces,” where I shared our workflow for generating over 670,000 valid cleavage energies from 22,441 bulk materials using the MACE-OMAT-0 potential with GPU acceleration, achieving roughly 10,000 times lower computational cost than DFT while maintaining strong predictive accuracy. |
